About Me

I am a third year Ph.D. scholar at Rubber Technology Centre, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Here, I am working under Professor Kinsuk Naskar in the area Polymer Blends and Composites.
The study of development of new materials in the elastomer and polymer field has always been fascinating to me, requiring a combination of knowledge, critical thinking, experimental work, and analyzing power to succeed. After completing B.Sc. in Chemistry(Hons)  I joined B.Tech program in Polymer Science & Technology at Calcutta University in the year 2013. During B.Tech I have done an internship in Crest Composites and Plastics Pvt. Ltd on the topic “Styrene Free Polyester”. After B.Tech I have worked in Indag Rubber Limited as a management trainee for one and half years on the topic “ Incorporation of nanofillers in tire tread to improve its longevity” by synthesizing several nanofillers like thermally exfoliated graphene oxide from graphite, nanocellulose from wheat straw and incorporating them in elastomer matrix through latex stage mixing process. After that, I have done M.Tech in Rubber Technology at IIT Kharagpur in the year 2018. In the second year of my M.Tech course, I did an internship in Birla Carbon India Pvt. Ltd on the topic “Surface modification of carbon black with polar polymer for water-based coating application” by synthesizing different water-soluble polymers and grafting those on carbon black surface. It improves the dispersibility in polar solvent extraordinarily and the waterbased coating was successfully prepared using this modified carbon black without using any kind of surfactants. This kind of surface modification can help in nanocomposite preparation also.
Currently, I am interested in the development of nanocomposites based on new classes of Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE). Synthesizing suitable nanofillers from renewable sources for this TPEs, easy composite fabrication technology, morphology development, smart processing techniques and biocompatibility testing will be my field of work for the next couple of years.
